Alfred P. Murrah Plaza Restoration
ALFRED P. MURRAH PLAZA RESTORATION
1999 | OKLAHOMA CITY, OK
In 1997 Architects In Partnership was selected by the General Services Administration to be a part of the design team to reconstruct and renovate the Murrah Federal Building Plaza and its underground parking structure.
The General Service Administration wished the project to have an interpretive aspect that would tell the story of the actions that took place on the plaza. Their intent was to create a tribute to the government agencies that worked in the Murrah Federal Building. The two year design project, adjacent to the National Memorial, incorporates an eighty-foot long glass rail at its north edge as an overlook to the memorial, a large water feature, and engraved pavers representing every department and agency that officed in the building.
