LAWTON COUNTRY CLUB
LAWTON, OK
AIP was commissioned to design a new facility for the Lawton Country Club. The new building is situated on a broad hillside overlooking the golf course and the Wichita Mountains. It was designed around an existing concrete cart barn that is now part of the lower level, adjacent to a new pro shop and a club storage area. The exterior facade is influenced by prairie style architecture, with a low-pitched roof line and large overhangs to fit into the hillside landscape, and is clad in cultured stone.
On the ground level, the public enters into a large entrance hall with a stone fireplace, seating areas and coat check-in that direct them to the adjacent formal and member’s only areas. The building also contains men’s and women’s locker rooms, each with private showers, a large restroom and a common fitness area. Located on the south end of the building is the ‘19th hole’ lounge, a large formal dining room and a balcony dining area that overlooks the course and hillside. Phase II will include an enlarged fitness area, an outdoor swimming pool, and a fenced-in private courtyard which will be located adjacent to the banquet room.
