Architects In Partnership was selected by Pittsburg County to design their new 30,000 square foot healthcare facility. The project site is located near other existing healthcare centers, which will put all the primary medical services in one general location and help support McAlester as a regional healthcare hub.

The new health department will provide room for increased personnel and expansion of the department’s examination and treatment capabilities. The building is designed to provide separate public access for high volume visits and functions, such as birth and death certificates, mobile medical vans, and testing delivery services. There will be a separate operational area for Mercy Clinic, McAlester’s free healthcare service, with links to the National Center for Disease Control.

The Project budget was $4.2 million but construction costs were approximately $3.8 million.
