Red Robertson Field
City of Miami Multi-Purpose Event Complex
AUGUST 2014 | MIAMI, OK
Red Robertson Field on the campus of Northeastern A&M College, serves as home field for the Golden Norsemen and Miami Wardog football teams. The stadium was in dire need of structural repair, concession and restroom facilities were limited and needing improvement. In collaboration with a local citizens group and the college, AIP developed a master plan of phased improvements that expanded its function to host a variety of athletic and cultural events. AIP worked with the Citizen’s Committee for a "Progressive Miami” to prepare promotional material, conduct public meetings to gather feedback and discuss options for funding. Voters approved a sales tax continuation to fund construction of the new City of Miami Multi-Purpose Event Complex. Phase 1 included the relocation of existing utilities and new synthetic turf playing field. Phase 2 included the new home grandstand, press box and suites, new high school locker room, public restrooms, concessions and entry gate. Future phases include; replacement of the existing east grandstands, new visitor’s locker room, honors plaza and expanded public parking. The project was completed 3% below budget and without disruption of scheduled events. In addition to NEO and Miami football, the new facility now hosts a handful of area rivalry games, soccer tournaments, band competitions, concerts and various NCJAA post season athletic events. The final result is a spectacular events center that not only benefits the college, it also allows the Miami High School and Middle School a facility for their sports championships, band competitions, and various other school events.
